Trip to DD Hills

The day was another Friday for me and was travelling towards Majestic [Bangalore's Bus stand] as I was planning to go to my home town Tumkur. I got a call from my best Chap "Tingu Bomber" [Malli] to arrange for a bike on saturday as couple of his colleagues were planning to come to Tumkur. Luckily I was able to arrange my good old Splendor for him. After talking with my Bro I confirmed to Tingu Bomber on the availability of the Bike :-).
His Friends , Mr. Ape [Manju - the violinist] and Mr.Hygiene [Ajit alias Ajite] came to Tumkur on PULSAR [forgot CC,till we met we were very good friends on Phone]. After spending some time in our College,SIT Tumkur, they were waiting for me near a Soda Shop.

Around 11.30am we started our journey to our destiny, Devarayana Durga Hills via Namada Chilume. Its around 21km away from Tumkur. It was a cloudy day and we were thinking that we may stuck up in the rain. On the way, we visited Siddaganga Mutt. One of the student of Mutt,Mr.Siddu aged around 7-9 became very good friend of Mr.Ape and was behind him asking for a Packet of Biscuit. After having Prasadam at Mutt we took our Siddu to near by Nandini Parlour and Mr.Ape bought an Ice cream for him. [So nice of him :-)]. Once the Ice Cream was in his hands, our Siddu was Gayab!!!! [he ran away from the place, dont know why?? may be that little kid was very shyie in nature].
Our bikes were waiting for us!!! We reached Namada Chilume around 1.15 pm. There was a big queue to have the water which is coming out of the ROCK!!! Yes,ROCK!!!

How was the name coined? Namada Chilume. A Small story for u ppls. When Lord Rama was on his Vanavas, he came to this place and was not able to find water to prepare the "NAMA" something like a Tilak which Lord Rama used to apply on his forehead. In this situation,Lord Rama shot an arrow into the earth standing on a Rock. The water started erupting out. Hence the name Nama-da Chilume [a sacred Natural Spring].

Ok ok.. now coming back to our story!!! There was a small way near by the Natural Spring which led us to a Mantap, named Some Mantap. Over here we spent nearly 2-hrs. We enjoyed seeing the full Namada Chilume Hill. Once I trecked this hill when I was a NCC Cadet in my high school days and I shared my experience with them. Over there some of the ppls were stepping down from the hills. Even from a distance of around .5 km we were able to here their words clearly!!! Still wondering how is this possible. Now we decided to continue our journey towards DD Hills, the most awaited one!!!

There are two temples of Lord Narasimha swami, YogaNarasimha and BhogaNarasimha. One is situated in the vliiage and the other on the hill. We drove our bikes to the hill. We were lucky enough to see a Glimpse of God. We spent some time in the temple as we also needed some relaxation. After 20-30 min of relaxation we thought of still climbing the hill, as we wanted to reach a Mantap which is the second top point of the DD Hills.

The Mantap!!! Second Top Point of the DD Hills

Special Thanks to our Violinist without whom we would have missed all the scenic beauty of the nature. Since my stay in Tumkur I never got an oppurtunity to see these places, but our violinist showed many spots, infact very beautiful spots.Below are couple of pics taken from second top most point. Over there, was small rock placed vertically. Now it was time for our Tingu Bomber to do some special stunts!!! Below are some of the pics.

Our Tingu Bomber at his Best!!!!

It was very windy over there, but somehow our Bomber managed to Stand and gave a Pose.

Thought of taking a pick in DCH Style

Our Unsung Heors Mr.Ape and Mr.Hygiene.
Now, for the most awaited thing which I want to tell... We reached the TOP POINT of DD Hills. Atlast conqured DD Hills. Yeppy!!! :-) As I am an Acrophobic Person, initially I refused to climb this steep Rock. All my friends insisted me to do so. Finally One word from Mr.Ape and Tingu Bomber, "Shabbu If you wont climb, really you will miss this!!!" These words changed my mind set and finally I too conqured DDHills!!!

The Place which I refused to GO!!! But Finally I did it. I dont have any photos to share bcoz even 4 persons sitting on that Rock was a big challenge!!!

One thing I forget to mention, while climbing the stpes of DD hills in between some where there was a portrait kind of thing which was sculpted on the rock itself. There was a Sadhu swami who narrated the story of Quarrel between Lord Hanuman and Garuda Raj. The result of the quarrel is the DD Hills it seems. This Sadhu also gave us some info on one more small Lord Rama temple near by. Luckily we were able to locate it as it is in the Cave!!! Thanks to that Sadhu.
Lord Rama inside a Cave!!!>

Now it was time to drive back to Tumkur...Again all of a sudden the climate changed..became very cloudy..Myself and Tingu Bomber decided to take new friends to our Churumuri Adda [Chats Adda]. We had nice chats,Tikki puri,CockTail Masala,Congress Masala,Tomato Slice Masala...etc etc.. hmmmm.Yummy Yummy!!!

Thus we ended our hourney!!!

Special thanks to Mr. Violinist and Mr. Hygiene for making this to happen!!!
All the way,our Tinug Bomber was very much stressing about the Shivagange Hills[Around 25-30 km from Tumkur.] I hope I will get back to you with my experience to Shivagange Hills very soon. Till then Bye!!!

The DD Hills.
